Funa Nakayama front crooks Hollywood 16 oh shit
If you live under the sea, you could be forgiven for not being aware that Japanese wunderkind (and Olympic medalist) Funa Nakayama front crooked the world's most famous handrail first try recently. Not only that, but by doing so, Funa Nakayama also adds her name to the slowly growing list of female skaters to grace the front cover of Thrasher magazine. Yeah, before you say anything, we know front crook is ABD but, does that really matter? Does that detract from the historic import of this one? Does screaming 'ABD' like an absolute bellend make it any less mental that Funa Nakayama, a 17 year old girl from Japan, just fucked up Hollywood 16 like a boss? No, of course it doesn't. Go fill your eyes with the reality via the new Element E.S.P Vol.2 vid above. As we're on the subject of absolutely amazing Japanese skateboarders - have a look below. Fresh from adidas skateboarding's media shed comes 'The Sky ain't Falling' featuring, (among many others) Polar's Nippon connection, Shin Sanbongi. Now it ought to be obvious that we're huge fans of everything adidas produce already but, if you need a reason - peep this. Mixing up the genres of a traditional demo/tour video with raw street montages filmed in London and Paris - this one will have you reaching for the 'I want some Puig's' button almost immediately. From tops-off Lucas demo insanity, through to Kader at Stockwell and Gustav T?nnesen literally kickflipping out of trees: this will stoke you out. And, for once, it's not on Thrasher's YouTube (no diss obvs) but it's nice when someone else gets a piece of the pie. Watch it on Free Skate Mag's YouTube, then go peep the Free adidas The Sky ain't Falling' article here. Last, but by no means least, is the very welcome return of Jacob Harris's Atlantic Drift series. The latest drop focuses on newly appointed Baker skateboards professional and Purley-export Casper Brooker. Heavy on the 'to manny' moves, this little piece mixes equal parts of elegance with power and drops some new takes on classic spots. The picnic table to manny stuff must be a Matt Hensley reference, surely?
