John Shanahan, the heir to Josh Kalis' throne as the skater most in tune with DC Shoes aesthetics and history, has finally been awarded with his first DC pro shoe and this utter banger of a video part has just dropped to announce it. Fans of John Shanahan will rejoice, those so far unaware of this guy will be stoked.
Imagine an amalgam of prime era Brian Wenning mixed with Josh Kalis and you'll be close. Flowing lines filled with impeccably executed progressive tech, huge pop and the best outfits in the game. You'd be hard pressed to find anything to dislike here: crusty East Coast architecture handled by one of the most original skaters out there right now. There's even a quick Southbank banger - keep your eyes peeled for that frontside heelflip - ridiculous.
DC Shoes current trajectory of embracing their heritage and taking skate shoe design away from the prevailing trend of most other brands rehashing the three silhouettes that were successful ten years ago is to be celebrated. More John Shanahan please!
