Shredenhams - a new skatepark in Bristol built in a derelict Debenhams

Yep, you read the title correctly. It's a custom-built indoor skatepark built inside what was once Bristol's largest department store. Following in the footsteps of Pitt St in Portsmouth, Shredenhams is a project led by the team behind Bristol's Campus Skateboarding. Is this the way to reinvigorate the high street? Maybe, maybe not, but with dozens of currently abandoned former retail spaces across the UK, it certainly seems like a better idea than just leaving them to rot. You can find out more about the back story in the video above, as well as following them on Instagram @shredenhams to keep abreast of last week's opening event and to find out about visiting yourselves. Anyone in a city with thousands of acres of now derelict retail space could do a lot worse than to alert their local council to this fantastic idea. Big up all involved.
