The General AKA Tyshawn Jones for SOTY surely?
Double trouble? Tyshawn Jones for SOTY (again) seems like a very distinct possibility following the release of his 'The General' part last week. I mean when your entire part is composed of enders and you're still sitting on the footage of what seems like the craziest Thrasher cover of all time - screaming 'Tyshawn Jones for SOTY again' doesn't really seem that unlikely to does it? Breaking this recent Hardies part down is fairly mind-bending. Are there any throw away tricks in here? Let's have a think... Okay so the 'least impressive' trick is a switch back heelflip over an 8 stair handrail. Read that back to yourself? WTF! Not only is Tyshawn Jones for SOTY highly probable; so is saying that Tyshawn Jones might possibly be one of the greatest skateboarders ever. Truly unbelievable levels of pop. At a point on skate history where people shitting themselves over dope fakie hardflips on flat, this guy is blasting them over actual full size roads. [/Head exploding emoji]. Is there another current young pro releasing footage with this regularity and of this standard? Or whose edited Instagram highlights piss on a lot of people's pro parts? Aside from former FA stable mate Louis Lopez, we're struggling to think of any really. Think that's hyperbolic? Have a look below. What a pisstake. His rise from being the pint-sized Courthouse Kid in Supreme's 'Cherry' has been truly meteoric. Best selling adidas pro shoes, a spot on (arguably) the most influential board brand on the planet and one SOTY under his belt without looking like he was trying - it's almost difficult to image him topping himself. But he's done it here and considering this 'The General' part ends with a 'To Be Continued' message, God only knows what he's likely to drop next. It takes a brave individual to leave a brand like FA at the zenith of its popularity, but if anyone can make a seemingly risky decision like that work for them, it's Tyshawn. Oh yeah and just in case you forgot - we haven't even seen the footage of him kickflipping across a subway yet. I'm calling it: Tyshawn Jones for SOTY (again) 2022.
